BulletBlocker was founded in the wake of the Columbine incident of 1999. The Company founders wanted to develop a way for school age children to have some added level of personal defense if an incident were to occur in their school or anywhere they were going. Their efforts brought about the creation of "My Child's Pack", the 3.4lb ballistic backpack which incorporated a “Bullet Blocker” panel of threat level IIIa ballistic protection into a high quality backpack. BulletBlocker created a product that will add a level of defense for anyone that may encounter a violent situation that was not available to the general public, at an affordable price, prior to its development. This is also a tool that should not interfere with any of the systematic (public safety) responses, yet give the user a “personal defense” item to aid in their own defense.
In early August of 2007 "My Child's Pack" was introduced to the public and received instant notoriety. The Boston Herald, ABC News, CNN, CNBC, Fox News, The New York Times, have all run stories, many of which included live firing at the range with the inventors.
